Many different types of cranes are used in engineering constructions .They are mainly used for lifting heavy things and transporting them to other places. They use one or more simple machines to create mechanical advantage and thus move loads beyond the normal capability of a human. These different cranes play an important role in construction works.
Different cranes are used under different circumstances and environment. Here are 3 types of cranes that are used commonly depending on the project, work objective and environment.
Mobile crane
The most basic type of mobile crane consists of a truss or telescopic boom mounted on a mobile platform. They are equipped with chains, wire ropes, drums and control panels. These types of cranes have many advantages such as flexibility and ability to access smaller areas and sites with limited space for entrance. But these types of cranes can’t drive with load, and they are not suitable for work in soft or muddy ground. The chassis performance of a mobile crane is equivalent to a truck with the same gross vehicle weight, and in line with the technical requirements of road vehicles.
Crawler Crane
Crawler crane is a type of self-propelled cranes for high-rise building construction. These types of cranes have strong adaptability, they can walk with load, and they are suitable for construction hoisting operations. Crawler Crane is used for digging, pilling and other construction works. Since its walking speed is slow, so it needs other vehicles to transfer to construction sites.
Tower Crane
Tower crane is one of the most commonly hoisting equipment, it used for lifting steel, concrete, steel pipe and many other construction materials. These types of cranes can increase on site productivity and shorten project duration, and put Materials to the right place exactly where they are needed on site.
