On March 12, accompanied by the Director General of the Commerce Department of Hunan Province Xu Xiangping, the Prime Minister of the Democratic Republic of Ethiopia’s special adviser Al Kabel visited Changshan Industrial Park of Sany. The conversation with Xiang Wenbo, the CEO of Sany Heavy Industry centered on the good relationship between China and Ethiopia, Sany’s investment in Ethiopia, and the renewable energy resources market.

Signing A Memorandum of Cooperation
Representing the government of Ethiopia, Al Kabel signed the Ethiopia-Hunan Equipment Manufacturing Cooperation Park memorandum of cooperation with Hunan Commerce Department, CGC and Changsha Economic-Technological Development Area.
This Park will be based on the Adama wind power industrial park in Ethiopia. The goal is to form a modernized equipment manufacturing cooperation park consisting mainly of the four engineering sections of machinery, energy, automobile/parts and general equipment. Within the park, Sany plans to invest in a high end equipment manufacturing base, focusing primarily on wind power equipment.

Pay Attention to Sany’s Wind Turbine Industry and Housing Industrializing
Ethiopia has wind power recourses with great potential. The government regards this new energy source as the key strategy of national electric power development. In 2013, Sany’ equipment won the bidding for Ethiopia’s wind power equipment procurement of Adama Phase II project which was the biggest new energy project in eastern Africa. In May, 2015, Sany’s 102 wind turbines had been installed, the prime minister of Ethiopia personally started up the equipment, and expressed his high appreciation for the effects this project achieved in relieving the country’s limited supply of electric power.
Al Kabel’s visit to Sany focused on Sany’s wind power industry development. He also expects Sany to continue to strengthen and develop Ethiopia’s wind turbine market. Xiang Wenbo said, Sany will take full advantages of its technology and financial resources to provide solutions for Ethiopia’s wind turbine construction.
Urban planning and housing construction are Ethiopia’s development priorities in the coming five years. Dr. Al Kabel hopes to introduce Sany’s technology and experience in urban and industrial development. Xu Xiangping said, we are expecting Sany to participate in Ethiopia’s city designing, planning and construction while leading other enterprises in Hunan province to participate in Ethiopia’s modernization and development.
Dr. Al Kabel said, at present, Ethiopia is learning from the experience of Chinese economic development. In some aspects, such as renewable energy sources, housing industrializing, road construction and large venues construction, they expect other Chinese enterprises of high technology and competitive capability, like Sany, to join in.
