SANY Wind Power Deepens Cooperation with India in Renewable Energy

SANY’s first wind turbine assembly line in India will be completed by the end of this year, with the aim to realize local manufacturing of wind turbine generators and transfer its wind power technology to the local market. It will invest 3 billion USD in 5 years in Indian market to build wind power plants with capacity of 2 million kW and generating 480 million kWh electricity each year.

On June 20, Sany Heavy Energy and the government of central Indian state Madhya Pradesh signed a Memorandum of Understanding, agreeing on plans to boost cooperation in renewable energy over the next few years. More SANY wind turbines will be used to help India develop its renewable electricity generation to meet the high local electricity demand. 

The signing ceremony was witnessed by Sany Heavy Industry Chairman Liang Wengen and Madhya Pradesh Chief Minister Shivraj Singh Chouhan. The two had a meeting during the investment promotion held in Beijing to highlight investment opportunities in Madhya Pradesh.

“SANY hopes to have further cooperation in wind power with India,” said Sany Heavy Industry Chairman Liang Wengen.

At the Beijing promotion activity, Chouhan told investors that Madhya Pradesh had a favorable business climate with many local advantages and fast economic growth. He announced that the government welcomed SANY and expected greater cooperation with mutual benefit.

Madhya Pradesh (meaning Central Province) is nicknamed the "heart of India" due to its geographical location in India. It is the second-largest state in the country, with a total area of 308,245 km² (119,014 mi²). Its wind resources rank second in India.
