SANY Wind Farms Develops with Intelligent Drone Technology

Ever since entering the renewable energy industry in 2008, SANY has become a global leader in the development and manufacture of high-performance wind turbine generators. SANY wind farms are now finding new developing opportunities through the utilization of intelligent unmanned aerial vehicles (UAVs).

SANY Group, BeDou Capital and Brisky Technology participated in a drone conference on August 12, discussing future cooperation in the UAV development for SANY wind farms.

Among some of the global wind farm operations that SANY has played a key role in are Ralls Wind Farm, Colorado Wind Farm, and Philips’ wind farm project, all based in the US, along with Adama Wind Farm, Ethiopia’s largest wind power project.

The heavy-machinery giant SANY will partner with drone developer BriSky in the development and manufacture of industrial-grade drones specially engineered for use on wind farms to conduct wind turbine inspection and collect key data for wind turbine operations.

This partnership gives SANY strategic positioning in the wind energy industry. With their combined expertise in wind energy systems and drone technology, SANY and BriSky plan to usher in a new age of “Intelligent Wind Farms,” marked with technologically advanced wind turbine generators and highly sophisticated inspection and maintenance systems.

In the past 3 years, drone technology has revolutionized entire industries, including the wind energy industry. Industrial UAVs with intelligent imaging systems are transforming the way in which wind turbine inspections are carried out, replacing what were high-risk and high-cost manual operations, with smarter UAV-driven inspections that are safer, faster and more efficient.

SANY has invested a significant amount into strengthening the R&D capacity of its US, German, Brazilian and Indian manufacturing bases. Directing 5–7% of its annual sales revenue to R&D every year has seen it rise to become a frontrunner in the “Intelligent Manufacturing Revolution,” where digital industrial tools are transforming the face of manufacturing.

With this new venture, SANY now has a new opportunity to further develop machines and systems that are smarter, safer and more sustainable, increasing overall efficiency on wind farm operations across the globe.
