Sany VP He Dongdong’s Remarks on New Industrial Manufacturing Cloud Ecosystem

In his remarks at the 12th China CIO Summit, Sany Vice President He Dongdong explained how the manufacturing industry has begun making use of the Internet, how the Internet is transforming industry, and the possibilities for the future. 

“The manufacturing industry is in a revolutionary era where intelligent technology, such as the Internet, artificial intelligence and virtual reality can be applied to equipment manufacturing,” the Vice President said. “We are facing tremendous changes and they are the future.”

Intelligent Ecosystem

“To adapt to the new situation, we will digitize things and get them connected based on the Industrial Internet of Things (IIoT), paying attention to big data analysis and the use of data, so as to build an industrial cloud ecosystem,” he said.

He then spoke on the first stage of building the cloud ecosystem, saying: “First of all, machinery and services will be made smarter based on the Internet of Things, making it easier for customers to receive all they need.”

Intelligent Machinery

“What we are determined to do is to digitize the entire process of manufacturing and all things related, including machines, materials, along with procedures. Connecting everything to a network, the Industrial Internet of Things will be a digitized ecosystem,” the Vice President remarked.

“Remote control technology is another intelligent machine feature that enables machine-to-machine interaction. Each machine, like a brain, is capable of collecting a large amount of information and conducting big data analysis. Connecting all these machines to form a network can create a super brain in the cloud that can be used for making decisions.”

Intelligent Service

“Service is critical for industrial products as they usually have long service life, so 80% of the machine’s value is determined by the maintenance and management provided,” He said.

“The IoT can build a strong and complete service system, covering machines, users, procedures, and all parts. Additionally, it can also boost innovation around the business model, for example, establishing a machinery leasing and trading platform, or developing  online financing.”

The Vice President also noted that because of sharing in the manufacturing industry, in the future, users will not need to spend large amounts of money on purchasing equipment on their own.

He Dongdong ended his speech by speaking on how the industry’s economic model will eventually be shaped. “We believe the manufacturing industry as a whole will take a sharing model in the future, making the manufacturing industry a kind of service industry,” he concluded.
