In 2011, five sets of SANY SE8720 wind turbines were bought by the Ralls wind farm with the total installed capacity of 10MW.
Ralls wind farm is located at Crosby County in Texas, 27 miles from Lubbock. Three expressways pass through the Ralls town, including US62,US8 and Texas 207. It is situated at the Llano Estacado Plain in Texas, which is one of the largest tablelands on the North American continent. The Llano Estacado belongs to the cold and semiarid climate, featuring long, hot summers and cold winters. The rainfall is scarce, since the entire region receives less than 23 in (580 mm) of rainfall every year.

The hoisting work began on May 10, 2011 and ended on May 25. On Jul 21, 2011, the wind turbines were combined to the grid. On Sep 7, all the five sets of wind turbines passed through the 240 access, which means the wind turbines could smoothly run 240 hours. Since then, the Ralls wind farm keeps stable operation with the annual use ratio of 96.3%.
The rated power of SE8720 wind turbine is 2.0MW with the rotor diameter of 85m and swept area of 6079㎡. SANY wind turbine features high productivity. The segmental and lengthened blade can successfully increase swept wind area. The 2.0 MW WTG is designed to comply with the safety requirements of the 2.5 MW WTG, which realizes a 25% excess generation capacity. The wind turbine also boasts high reliability. It has passed ten testing systems in the industry to guarantee the high reliability of the turbines. The 100% load testing of turbine, comprehensive testing of gearbox, generator, drive train, control system and converter ensure the 100% pass rate for quality before leaving the facility.
